This series of five prints parodies the exaggerated combinations of dramatic headlines and stop action photography found in a typical newspaper sports section. The layout of an existing sports page is maintained in each of these works but only certain headlines and photographs from the original publications are represented amidst columns of white space. The photographs show football players under great strain diving for the ball, frantically running, or in other positions of great physical exertion. Upon closer inspection, we find that it is the artist himself who is the main protagonist and that all the action is staged within his studio. This re-framing of an ubiquitous example of 'machismo' exposes the high aestheticism of the everyday news with a sharp and humorous eye.
